New Songs

"Hallelujah! Sing a new song to Jehovah; Sing His praise in the congregation of His faithful ones." Psalms 149:1

1 Lord, apart from You,
Your life I can't pursue.
But God lives in me, operates!
He's willing,
In me, working.
His exc'llent Christ, I'd come to know.

Chorus:
To gain Christ, I onward press!
My life is vain, if Him I'd miss!
In my joys, or in distress,
Those "little" times, I'd not dismiss.

2 All that I've obtained,
All things I've held as gain,
All that my heart embraced as dear
Cannot compare,
I'm to Him drawn near
The exc'llent Christ pales all things else!

3 Onward still I stretch!
My whole life, I invest -
Oh! in His life, not mine be found!
I've not attained,
T'ward this goal I aim,
Still I'd pursue, lay hold of Him!

4 His life, I'd express,
As more of Him possess,
Filled with the fruit of righteousness.
My life, lived,
From His life giv'n,
Death operates to bring forth life!

5 His mind be in You!
With His mind, let's pursue!
Christ in my brothers! I'm supplied!
By this rule, confined,
Hold to patterns, this kind!
Together we rejoice in You!

(After vs.5, change chorus to plural)
