New Songs

"Hallelujah! Sing a new song to Jehovah; Sing His praise in the congregation of His faithful ones." Psalms 149:1

1 Lord, I am really bothered,
That after all these years,
I'm still so short in knowing You;
With longings, I draw near.
I can't say that I don't love You,
This is absolutely not true.
But in my heart, have You first place?
This is Your longing too.

Chorus:
So, dearest Jesus, precious Lord,
Infuse me with Your mind.
Towards anything that's less than You,
I pray my eyes be blind.

2 Contented in my thoughts to stay,
Reside there, my whole day;
But when it's time to read or pray,
My time has slipped away.
You have given vision to me
Your church, the great pearl, I see;
Yet how I spend my time's misaimed,
Weighted by things I've gained.

3 My longing is to You pursue,
Yet from the path I veer.
Life's situations You'd then use,
My wayward heart, draw near.
If I'm waiting for Your return,
My heart then for You should burn.
I'd not then live complacently;
I'd be so quick to turn!

4 I trust Your stirring now in me!
Speak through Your Word, unfold,
And share with me what's on Your heart;
Your face, I'd then behold.
Lord, You are the most faithful One!
Finish now what You've begun,
Both within me and in Your church,
Glory to You, God's Son!
