New Songs
"Hallelujah! Sing a new song to Jehovah; Sing His praise in the congregation of His faithful ones."
Psalms 149:1
One evening, at a gospel meeting, we sang a hymn that was filled with over 75 items detailing who Christ is in our walk with Him. Afterwards, a brother spoke how the riches of Christ, in our experience are so exhaustless that even more verses could be added to this hymn! The following is a collection of some of the verses written:
Sing to tune of Hymn #510
Though David had a heart for You,
One with Your heart divine,
Yet empty he, no Christ within,
No house of God yet seen.
You build Yourself into his house,
As content and as seed.
God one with man, man one with God,
True mystery indeed!
Through steps divine: Death unto life!
The Spirit, He's become.
To be our content, all in all,
Our heart He makes His home.
Now with this Christ, as seed now sewn,
And growing in the saints,
God's house He builds, as King He reigns,
The city to produce.
--B.R.
To Christ I run with all my cares,
In Him I can confide,
He is the calm in my life's storms,
When I, in Him, abide.
Christ is the flaming in my heart,
Apart from Him I'm cold.
He is my springtime, bursting life,
The fresh Christ I behold.
Christ is the One who speaks to me,
A voice that's soft and still -
To cease from what I'm doing now,
And do the Father's will.
Christ is the One, encouraging,
Press on towards Him, the goal,
He longs that I'd give Him first place -
In body, spirit, soul.
Christ is the One who bids man "Come",
He is the open door,
Amazing thought that He'd need me,
That others know Him more!
In Christ, the Father is defined,
In Him, God's will fulfilled.
Through Him, man was brought into God,
In Him, His church we build.
--J.G.

Christ is my content and my life;
With Him, His house I'll be.
He is building Himself in us,
that His name we all bear.
--M.L.

My Christ is my humility
When things just don't seem fair;
He is the peace that floods my soul,
Removes my anxious care.
--D.P. (written through an experience of Christ at work)

My Christ, He is an artist skilled.
We are His work of art.
He's making us His masterpiece,
So pleasing to God' heart.
--N.L.

My Christ is strengthened and refreshed,
Through brothers, sisters, dear,
I read their emails, sing their songs,
To Christ I am drawn near!
--J.G. (After visiting the church website and checking my email from the saints, I was filled with so much joy, this came out!)
