(Based on Matt. 26:6-16, John 12:1-11 and Luke 10: 38-42) I am always touched by Mary's love for Jesus. And not just her love, but her faith and zeal. In Luke 10, she chose to sit at His feet and listen to all that He said. Jesus commended her for this, saying "she chose the one thing needed, the better thing" -- GOD HIMSELF! She knew nothing could take the place of time with God. She was zealous for Him. That zeal carried over at the time of the Passover when she anointed Him. She "wasted" the perfume on Him because of her love and care and concern. She believed He would die in a few days and her faith determined those actions. Oh, how I Iong to be like Mary. Devoted to God. Wasting myself in His presence. Believing Him, listening to Him, loving Him, even caring for Him. On the other hand, I see myself in Judas. He was quick to react, quick to judge, hot-headed you may say. His care was a facade. It was not for the poor, but for himself. Oh, Lord to be transformed from Judas to Mary. This is the miracle of Christ because it can be done. Christ can transform us, the process starts in the heart. db 12/6/11 |
